About this Event
Revd is thrilled to be powering this first event in a series of unique writers rounds to support songwriters. The event will be hosted at the legendary The Listening Room Café in Nashville, TN, in collaboration with our friends at Truist and Radio SoBro. An intimate gathering of 200+ guests, the round will be hosted by radio television host Kevin Manno and led by songwriter Luke Sheets joined by Jenn Schott, Ryan Kinder and Taylor Hogan. More on our host and each of these exceptional songwriters / singer-songwriters below.
A writers round allows audiences to get up close and personal with each of the songwriters as they perform solo acoustic (one after the other “in a round”) – but often joining in with each other adding harmonies and/or contributing guitar / piano riffs, etc. A lot of the fun comes through the living room vibe of the writers discussing how and why they wrote the songs, their storytelling, and the writer interactions.
During shows at The Listening Room, they are truly a “LISTENING ROOM” and will expect conversations be kept to a whisper out of respect to the songwriters on stage. The writers you will listen to are the ones who actually wrote the songs you’ll hear. These aren’t “cover songs” – these are the talented writers who wrote them!
One of the lesser known facts in the world of songwriting round performances is that often the writers are asked to perform just for “songwriting exposure”, while in other cases it’s for minimum compensation in order to keep show operational costs down and allow for a lower ticket price for fan entry. The Listening Room Café has been a leader in trying to bridge the gap between keeping events at an affordable low ticket price, while still covering operational costs, but also putting forth the effort to compensate the writers who are sharing their craft with all of us!
Our aim for this event is to be consistent with Revd’s mission and create a unique approach enabling fans to “tip live at the event” through their mobile device, furthering our goal of empowering fans to help establish real-time market value of intimate events and support talent they love. All fan tips for this event will be matched dollar-for-dollar (up to $2,000) with all proceeds going directly to the songwriters!
Another piece to this event series is the pairing of professional songwriters (who’ve crafted hits for other artists) with recording artists who also co-write. Additionally, we’re creating an opportunity for “up-and-coming” songwriters to collaborate with their more experienced peers, and to have the opportunity to be mentored by & share the stage with these writers who might otherwise be hard to get in a room with together. The event audience also gets to benefit by experiencing a great cross section of songwriting talent!
About the Host and the Songwriters
Kevin Manno
Kevin Manno is both a television and radio host, having begun his career with “Q101” WKQX in Chicago before moving to New York City to host “The Seven” on MTV (a daily, 30-minute pop-culture news show), and later hosting “Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition” on Lifetime. From 2013 to 2021, he was a co-host of the syndicated iHeartRadio “104.3 My-FM” KBIG Los Angeles morning radio show Valentine In The Morning, with hundreds of millions of listeners on-air annually. In 2021, Manno relocated to Nashville with his family.
Luke Sheets
A coffee loving, multi genre songwriter and producer from Nashville via Boston, MA. He has had several top 40 songs in Country with other hit songs including number #1s in Christian, Club Play, and Dance Top 40. He once performed a Rock tour playing 60 shows in 30 days, across 22 states.
Jenn Schott
Nashville-based songwriter Jenn Schott has had her songs recorded by artists including Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, The Eli Young Band, Mickey Guyton, Billy Ray Cyrus, Pam Tillis, Lonestar, Gloriana, Jana Kramer, Francesca Battistelli, Lucy Hale, Jamie Lynn Spears, and Restless Heart. Jenn co-wrote Mickey Guyton’s debut single, “Better Than You Left Me,” which was named one of Billboard’s 10 Best Country Songs of 2015. She also penned the title track of Tim McGraw’s Grammy nominated album, “Two Lanes of Freedom,” which was the namesake of McGraw’s 2013 summer tour. McGraw’s current single “7500 OBO” was also co-written by Jenn.
Ryan Kinder
Ryan Kinder has accrued more than 95 million streams by steadily building a fan base through electrifying live shows, exceptional musicianship, and a sound he describes as “riff-roaring rock with a side of sweet Southern soul.” Kinder introduces himself as an artist on his own terms with his recent independently released album Room to Dream via Kinder’s Crimson Garden Records. The Alabama native’s wide range of influences are featured throughout the project. A blend of rock, pop, country and blues, Room to Dream had Kinder diving into his catalog as a writer to find songs that showcased what he loved most about music. The project’s 10 tracks date back to Kinder’s early co-writes after moving to Nashville from Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 2011.
Taylor Hogan
“This kind of feels like a bit of old school Loretta Lynn style, some Johnny Cash storytelling, with a youthful infusion and an AC/DC type kick in the … !” That’s how one music industry veteran referred to the upcoming EP release from singer-songwriter Taylor Hogan. Having moved to Nashville to finish her degree in Songwriting at Lipscomb University and hone her musical artistry, in just a few years Taylor caught the attention of a team of producers, songwriters and music professionals with Grammy-winning and major label publishing collaborations to their credit. Taylor is looking forward to releasing her second EP this year, recently described as equal parts catchy melodies, distinct vocal delivery, country rock hooks with traditional Nashville relatable storytelling.
